Mike Watson has been coming to Bald Head Island since 1997. After his family’s first visit, they decided this was “their beach.” Having always enjoyed fishing, boating, and all aspects of beach life after being raised in Florida, Mike and his family loved the BHI vibe. In 2012, The Watsons purchased their residence on the island, and they have been spending summers and holidays here ever since. Mike worked in the science and pharmaceutical industry for 20 years. He then left the industry to teach 6th-grade science and spent time as an Assistant Principal and Principal at The Franciscan School (TFS) in Raleigh. He spent, in total, three years teaching science, six years as Assistant Principal, and then six years as principal at TFS before retiring in 2022.

As someone who has enjoyed woodworking and construction projects and is generally a good handyman around his own house, Mike decided to help others with their home projects as a hobby/third career and stay out of everyone’s way at home as a retiree. Mike started doing projects on the island in 2023 and is available to help with ARC approval and outside construction projects and repairs. He is dependable and timely in working with homeowners to repair and maintain their homes and complete additional small projects.
